KTT is powered by Narmacil transcription engine by Tomá¹ Nìmec (aka BLiZZARD). This engine is successfully used in YaTT application on Windows® and in TTT utility on Windows® and Linux®. Please refer to YaTT homapage for details.
Transcription is done according to the rules of writing in chosen language (or mode). There are curently two format of mode files and KTT can work with both:
an old (primary) format as used in the TengwarScribe Windows® application by Måns Björkman
a new format introduced together with Narmacil engine in version 2.0 of the YaTT software
KTT main features include:

Automatic transcription (see the results immediately as you type)
Supports both .mod and .tmf mode files
Easy examining keys used to write Tengwar phrase
